We are pleased to announce that WRoCAH has been awarded renewed funding by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to support 240 PhD students over five years, with the first cohort starting in October 2019. 15% of the studentships will be ring-fenced for Collaborative Doctoral Awards (http://wrocah.ac.uk/collaborations/cda/) whereby students will work closely with non-University partners on projects co-designed with the partner organisation.
The doctoral training programme continues the successful collaboration between the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield, and York which was established by the initial award to WRoCAH in 2013.
The further support from AHRC reflects the strength of research and teaching in the Arts and Humanities at the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York, and the strong intellectual and organisational structure created through the White Rose University Consortium. The funding will be supplemented by a further investment from the three Russell Group universities.
PhD programmes offered by WRoCAH are designed to foster a more collaborative and global approach to doctoral training and will equip high-achieving individuals with the skills and experience to become leaders in their chosen fields.
All WRoCAH students will work closely with leading external organisations from sectors including museums, galleries, archives and libraries; arts and heritage organisations; the creative industries; design, manufacturing and retail; publishing and performing arts; media, and charities and the public sector.
