The White Rose College of the Arts & Humanities will be offering at least 48 PhD studentships starting in October 2021 at Leeds, Sheffield and York, through the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTP2) scheme.

TWO types of studentship will be offered: Open Competition and Collaborative Doctoral Award (CDA). The table below summarises the differences.

Closing deadlines

  • Open Competiton is 17:00 GMT on Wednesday 27 January 2021
  • CDA Competition – deadlines may vary

NOTE: WRoCAH is not yet accepting applications for next year. The 2021 Open Competition will be launched on 2 November 2020.

WRoCAH AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Awards (CDAs)

  • Student-led projects
  • Apply for a place of study FIRST
  • Usually an interview with your chosen department
  • Apply to WRoCAH for funding SECOND
  • Defined projects with external collaborating partner organisation
  • Expressions of interest FIRST
  • Usually an interview with the project team
  • Successful student nominated to WRoCAH*
  • Successful student confirmed by WRoCAH
