DESCRIPTION:This course will run at either Durham or Newcastle Universities
 .\n\nThis course is being offered jointly by the White Rose College of the
  Arts &amp\; Humanities and the Northern Bridge Doctoral Training Partners
 hip\, both funded by the AHRC.\n\nIt is intended for doctoral researchers 
 who need to take oral history or oral testimony as part of their research.
  Participants will learn to undertake interviews professionally\, through 
 an understanding of the role of oral history in research and the use of ap
 propriate techniques and ethical considerations.\n\nLearning objectives\n\
 n 	Gain an understanding of key concerns in oral history including:\n 	Awa
 reness of the emergence and development of oral history\n 	Appreciation of
  a range of the history of research\, sources and archives in oral history
 \n 	Gain knowledge and confidence in the use of appropriate audio recordin
 g equipment\n 	Basic understanding of legal and ethical considerations in 
 the collection\, use and archiving of oral histories\n 	Ability to evaluat
 e oral history interviews\;\n 	Different approaches to analysing oral hist
 ories\n 	Archive requirements\n\nThe course will be taught by Dr Michelle 
 Winslow (University of Sheffield) and Professor Graham Smith (University o
