DESCRIPTION:This event is run with the Borthwick Institute for Archives in 
 York\nThis is an introductory workshop and therefore primarily aimed at fi
 rst year doctoral researchers. However if you are further along in your Ph
 D research and still relatively new to archival research you are still mor
 e than welcome to register for a place.\n\nThis course will explore the pr
 actical issues encountered in visiting archives and using archival sources
 \, and will include:\n\n 	A tour of the Borthwick Institute for Archives\n
  	Finding subject-specific sources\n 	Using 'Discovery'\, the National Arc
 hives' record descriptions database\n\nParticipants will also have the opp
 ortunity to work with real archival material\, considering\n\n\n 	asking r
 elevant research questions\n 	taking meaningful notes \n 	photographing an
 d recording sources\n\nThe programme will be run by Dr Kate Giles\, from t
 he University of York and Sally-Ann Sheard &amp\; Chris Webb from the Bort
